How Altapano Evaluates Product Claims
Useful product information starts by saying where each claim came from. A supplier specification, an Altapano measurement, a field observation, and general category guidance are not the same kind of evidence.
Four kinds of information
- Supplier specification: information supplied by the manufacturing partner.
- Altapano measurement: a value checked by us, with the sample, tool, date, and method recorded.
- Field observation: what happened during documented real-world use; useful context, not a universal guarantee.
- General guidance: category-level advice, such as how to check pole length using elbow angle.
What we publish now
The AirFold page publishes the product’s current specifications, fit ranges, included parts, setup guidance, return policy, and material tradeoffs. Measurements should be treated according to their recorded source rather than as proof of performance in every condition.
The standard we are building toward
Future test notes should identify the sample, terrain, weather, distance, load, setup, inspection method, and limitations. If a result cannot be reproduced or explained clearly, it should not become a headline.
The AirFold Carbon Trekking Poles page shows the product and policy detail currently available. Evidence can become fuller over time; the boundary between what is known and what is still being checked should remain visible.
